TranscribeBench's tools run in your browser. Subtitle files and transcripts you open or paste are never uploaded. The site sets no cookies and has no accounts. Analytics, if switched on, is cookie-free.
Your files stay on your device
The subtitle converter, the WER calculator and the cost calculator are JavaScript that runs in your browser. A subtitle file you choose is read by your browser with the File API and converted in the same tab. Transcripts you paste into the WER calculator are scored in the same tab. Nothing you open, paste or type is sent to TranscribeBench or anyone else. The only network requests the tools make are for their own code and data files (the price list) from this site. You can check this in your browser's developer tools, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads: the tools keep working.
The "Download" button in the subtitle converter builds the file inside your browser. "Copy to clipboard" asks your browser for permission to write to the clipboard and nothing else.
Cookies
TranscribeBench sets no cookies and has no accounts, logins, comment forms or newsletter forms.
Analytics
TranscribeBench uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies, without fingerprinting, and without collecting personal data. It is provided by Cloudflare, which also hosts the site (Cloudflare's privacy policy).
Hosting
The site is static files served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. TranscribeBench doesn't receive or keep server logs of individual visits.
The benchmark recordings
The benchmark uses published research recordings (LibriSpeech, the AMI Meeting Corpus and EdAcc) under their open licenses. The site does not publish the audio, identifies speakers only by the corpora's own anonymous IDs and accent labels, and never tries to find out who they are. When a commercial tool is tested, only these clips are uploaded to it.
Links to other sites
Links to vendors take you to their sites, where their privacy policies apply. If a link is a paid link (labeled "(paid link)"), the vendor or its affiliate network may set a cookie on its own site to attribute the referral.
